This was one of the most touching family sessions I’ve ever shot. Lisa contacted me and said that her dad has cancer and they wanted to get pictures very soon. So I decided to donate a shoot to them, since they already have so much to worry about. And I’m so glad I did. These are the kinds of things that remind me how important photography can be.
They are such a sweet and loving family that I couldn’t help but cry as I looked through the pictures. The little things like a smile, a laugh or touching hands is frozen in time. It shows us how it’s not really a little thing at all.
Dear Gibson Family, thank you so much for sharing this with me. I hope these pictures will be a reminder of how great your family is.

It was really sweet to see how each kid has a special relationship with their dad.

My friend and makeup artist extrodinare, Amy Clarke put on a fun shoot where a bunch of photographers, models, makeup artists and hair stylists got together for an all day extravaganza. I’ve known every single hair and makeup artist for a long time so it was really great to work with all my amazingly talented friends!
I looked at it as an opportunity to practice my off camera lighting and try something I don’t normally do. It’s difficult to use off camera lighting at weddings because there’s usually a limited amount of time and lighting takes time to set up. I’m still working on it but I am happy with how these came out.
Makeup Artists:
Amy Clarke
Brandie Bedell
Shelia Northcutt
Hair Stylists:
Melody Rachunok
Vanessa Del Campo
Kristen Camancho Enriquez
Makeup by Brandie.

I’ve been photographing Vanessa for years! Makeup by Brandie, Hair by Melody:

This is my absolute fave from the shoot. I love the colors and it’s my favorite time of day with and without lighting.

So excited with how these came out! It’s truly amazing when they actually turn out because I’m guessing at everything: where I start the film, where to take a picture and how far to turn the lever. The piece on the back of the Holga that tells me what frame it’s on fell off a long time ago. I get a lot of double exposures that way as you can see : )
I was so happy this one came out. I really loved this old lady walking by.

Loved talking with this man! An artist in Soho and his dog. To the left is a double exposure from another picture.

Guess it’s film week on the blog! Finally got the 35mm developed from New York. I had them cross-processed and I’m in love with how they turned out. Come back for more 120 film from the Holga soon.
